3 DROPS

2011
LYNNWOOD RECREATION CENTER; LYNNWOOD, WA. Painted mild steel, stainless steel, Ecoresin, LED's, stained concrete. The vertical sculptures are 13.5 -15 ft high. The integrated colored concrete pattern is 30 ft x 30 ft.

This artwork was inspired by the microscopic movement of water droplets and is sited in front of a busy community swimming pool and recreation center. Acting as a 'grove' of light sculptures, the piece is a welcoming entrance beacon day and night.  The piece is comprised of 3 vertical sculptures integrated onto a series of interconnected circular patterns formed and colored in the concrete sidewalk. The vertical sculptures are based on fluid dynamics studies, while the concrete circles refer to ripples left by drops on the surface of water. Commissioned by City of Lynnwood.
